The day is drawing near, Elizabeth Klein & Philip DiBello are tying the knot. We invite you to Milton, New York to share the weekend with us. We’re looking forward to a few days of good food, fresh air, plenty of drinks and the people we love.

Itinerary

We’re hoping the weekend will be pretty relaxed. We might be around the property (Liz will most definitely be by The pool!), but encourage you to get out and explore the area. Here’s a list of some of our favorite activities in the Hudson Valley. Below are the main events that have a time and place.

Directions

By Car From South (NYC, NJ) Take I-87 North to exit 17 (Newburgh) Continue on I-84 East to exit 10 (9W, Highland). Travel approximately 11 miles North on 9W until you come to a traffic light at an intersection with the Milton Turnpike. Make a right at this light, onto Milton Turnpike. At the stop sign make a left onto Main St. This becomes North Rd. Buttermilk Falls is the first right after River Knoll Rd.

By Car From West (Rochester) Follow I-90 E and I-87 S to NY-299 E in New Paltz. Take exit 18 from I-87 S. Merge onto NY-299 E. Travel 5 miles and turn right onto US-9W S. Travel 5 miles and turn left onto Milton Rd. which becomes North Rd. Continue onto North Rd. for about 0.5 miles. Buttermilk falls is on the left.

By Train from NYC Take the Metro North Hudson Line Train to Poughkeepsie Station from Grand Central Terminal. Train ride is approx. 90 Mins. Buttermilk Falls is 10 mins away by taxi.

Activities

Explore the Buttermilk Falls Inn grounds An invigorating stroll around Buttermilk Falls Inn property rewards you with the pleasures of river and farm. Watch for four friendly Angora goats, five voguing llamas, three Alpacas and three cuddly miniature donkeys as well as a bunch of laying hens (fresh eggs in the morning), beehives and sizable organic garden on your way.

Enjoy the pool and spa at Buttermilk Falls InnButtermilk Spa is situated on 70 acres of cascading lawns, winding streams and steps away from the Buttermilk Waterfalls. The pool is open year round and spa treatments can be booked all weekend.

Dia: Beacon Museum One of our favorites, the Dia:Beacon is the museum for the Dia Art Foundation’s collection of art from the 1960s to the present. They have an amazing collection of modern art and the space is beautiful. 30min south of Milton.

Twin Star Orchards features farm fresh produce and locally sourced products from the Hudson Valley at their farmstand. They serve wood-fired pizzas and burgers from 11am to 7pm. Their Brooklyn Cider House tasting room offers free samples of hard cider, and also carries a selection of NYS wines and spirits. 20min north of Milton.

Tuthilltown Spirits Distillery Tour the first whiskey distillery in New York since Prohibition. Taste whiskey made from locally grown grains and vodkas from local apples. Open year round. Fees and tour times on website.

Angry Orchard Cider Our 60 acre orchard in Walden, NY is nestled in the heart of the Hudson Valley.

BenMarl Winery Vineyards and winery situated high on a hill overlooking the vineyard, orchards, the Hudson River and beyond. Picnic area. Daily, April - December, noon - 6pm.

Walkway Over the Hudson, Highland to Poughkeepsie This 1.28 mile Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park – the longest elevated pedestrian park in the world – was once the steel Poughkeepsie-Highland Railroad Bridge that from 1888 to 1974 bore the weight of up to 3,500 freight cars a day.
